Organized October 8, 1886, continuing the Chicago Stamp Collectors Union, which was organized December, 1884. The CPS is APS Chapter No.1, and one of the two organizations with the longest uninterrupted service to philately in the United States.

The Chicago Philatelic Society usually holds meetings on the third Thursday of each month.

We are not meeting in person for the foreseeable future due to the national emergency around COVID-19. Please stay tuned to this page and our social media accounts for updates.

Our next online meeting is July 16, 7pm to 9pm via Zoom. The first hour is for the business meeting; the second hour will feature Rod Juell speaking on "Unusual and Interesting Material From the 4th Bureau Era". We will share details with members through our newsletter. Guests are welcome! If you are not a member and wish to attend, please email our secretary for details. Visit our Contact Us page.

Our August 20 speaker is Rob Faux, who will share his knowledge of the postal history of the 1861 U.S. 24-cent stamp.

Please check our Facebook and / or Twitter pages for current details (links at the bottom of this home page). (You don't need to have accounts to visit the pages.) Meetings run from 7:00 to 9:00pm, and usually include a philatelic presentation and some society business. All are welcome. Many of our speakers are advanced collectors, so be prepared to see exciting stamp and postal history subjects.

Each year in November we host CHICAGOPEX — one of the four largest stamp shows in the country — that attracts dealers, exhibitors and stamp enthusiasts from around the nation and the world. Click on either CHICAGOPEX selection (at left) to see information about this year's and future stamp shows.

We invite you to visit us or attend a meeting. Our members are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the organization and how you can join.
